Welcome From Our Principal

Welcome to Swainsboro Primary’s 2015-2016 school year!  I hope everyone has had a fun filled and relaxing
summer!  I am happy to be back at school and I have to say that I am excited by the amazing possibilities of this
coming school year.

At this time of the year, there is great anticipation of what is to come for the new school term. The staff and I are
thrilled to share another year of learning together with all of our remarkable students and parents. I am also excited
because I have returned to work in a new position this year. I am proud and honored to say that I will be the new
Principal of Swainsboro Primary School.  I have worked as an educator for 20 years. I have been the Assistant
Principal at SPS for the past nine years. Before that, I was the school counselor for 7 years and a classroom teacher
my first 4 years.  I am proud to say that I have been a part of the Emanuel County School System throughout my

Please join me in welcoming Mr. Tremayne Hall to our SPS family as Assistant Principal.  He is an experienced
educator with a background in Special Education and Administrative Leadership. Mr. Hall will be a huge asset to our
faculty, staff, and students. He will be coming to us from Wilkinson County Middle School.  I am also looking forward
to having Mrs. Sarah Tapley as our Instructional Coach. She also brings a wealth of educational knowledge and
experience. Mrs. Tapley has been a first grade teacher at SPS for the past seven years. SPS had several staff
members to relocate or retire last year, so there will be a number of new teachers and paraprofessionals on board
this year.

As demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we all need to work
together to insure that our children reach their potential.  We believe that all of us - the school and the community -
must work together in an extended family environment to insure success for all our students.

With that in mind, you are invited to be an active participant at Swainsboro Primary School.  We welcome classroom
volunteers, invite you to eat lunch with your child, meet with your child’s teacher on a regular basis,  attend our PTO
and/or School Council Meetings, you are encouraged to be involved!  Research clearly states that parent
participation in their child's school coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success for their child.

SPS is a wonderful school! We have an outstanding and dedicated faculty and staff.  We promise to value our
student’s as individuals. We believe that in coming together with a common purpose, we can do great things that will
lead to success for the staff, students and families of Swainsboro Primary School. I invite you to come visit us and
experience for yourself the great things we have going on at SPS.

Please plan on attending the Open House on July 30th between 4:00-6:00. Students and parents will have the chance
to meet their teachers before school starts on Monday, August 3rd.

I look forward to a successful school year working with you to prepare our children for a bright future.
